Plenty of exciting jockeying in May. The Swedes passed the Corkers after
the first series in May. By the end of the third series the IBC had a three
way log jam at the top; the Corkers, Swedes and Nine all tied up. Since,
the Corkers have claimed the lead for themselves, with the Swedes nipping
at their heels. The Union Association has seen the Pikers, Gorillas, Pikers,
Bik Kahoonas, Gorillas, Big Kahoonas Gorillas, Pikers, Gorillas and finally
the Pikers again all hold down the top position during the course of the
month. Both leagues are tight and there's still a lot of baseball to be
played-It's Anybody's race.
Big Surges-The Iowa City Corn Wolves went from 4 games under 500 to 8 games
above, but gaining only 2 games on the division leader. How's that for a
tough division!
Out of the gate! Finally, WHAFL 10 is under way and the
Silver Sox and the Reapers streaked out to an early lead in their respective
divisions. A short lived lead as it turned out for the Silver Sox were quickly
overtaken by the Mudville Nine. The Nine were subsequently passed by the
Swinging Swedes . The Corkers swept the Bombers in the final series of the
month to vault into the lead of the IBC. The Reapers were passed by the
steadily churning Turnpikers, who have yet to relinquish the lead of the
Union Association.
